When a testamentary trustee is designated, there is a qualifying period, also known as the beneficiary claim period, during which the trustee is expected to claim proceeds. If the trustee does not claim benefits within the qualifying period, the insurer will make payment directly to the insured's estate or to the beneficiaries. |
