| This object represents the different participants that are associated with a particular coverage. It contains properties that are unique to the issuance of life insurance. A party ID is utilized to obtain the party information for the particular coverage. A collection of participant objects is utilized to represent all the participants in a particular coverage. These may or may not be the same parties represented through the Relations object, indicating party to policy relationships. It is recommended but not required that each life participant be represented in the Relations object as well. It is also likely that you may have parties represented in the Relations object that are not participants in a particular coverage.For ratings on a Coverage, you should be using the equivalent properties of the LifeParticipant object (which is used to associate the Coverage with the insured Party). For example, if you had a simple Whole Life policy with a Table B rating, you would have a single Coverage with a Coverage/IndicatorCode of "1" (Base) and LifeCovTypeCode of "1" (WL Ordinary); and under that, a LifeParticipant with a LifeParticipantRoleCode of "1" (Primary Insured) and a PermTableRatingAlphaCode of "B". Policy/Life/Coverage/LifeParticipant supports the formation of a (one-to-many) association between Coverages and Parties. Refer to Section 4.16 of the Help File, Expressing Policy Roles (Participant/LifeParticipant vs. Relation), for usage information.Note that MR 04-1.127.03 synchronized the objects, properties, and attributes of Participant and LifeParticipant. These objects must remain synchronized, since it was determined that there is no longer a business delineation between them. As a result, any additions or deprecations to one of these objects must also be made to the other. |
